Today it was an official ceremony dedicated to the Stalin’s regime victims. It took part in Bukovnya’s forestdsc09583.jpg, where hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians were murdered.  dsc09571.jpgThe President of Ukraine, Victor Yuschenko, held this ceremony and made a great speech. He shoved that he is really a Patriot and he feels a deep pain about his Motherland and its people.

Here are some quotes from his impressive talk:

dsc09562.jpg“The Bukovnya’s forest is the special place, that has a long dark story. At first, in 1920s, the great bolshevics opressions against Ukrainians were transformed into mass murders here. Then, in 1930s, communistic government, in head of Stalin continued his great “cleanings” (‘chistki’). And after that, during WWII, in 1941-1945, Germans killed Ukrainians in that forest…”dsc09557.jpg

“Our historicans  say that 100-120 thousands were killed. What nation can count its people like that? It doesn’t matter 100 thousands, or 101, or 110… How can we not to appreciate  people’s life in that way? How?” dsc09561.jpg

dsc09560.jpg“Bolshevics killed Ukrainians because they were ‘nationalists’, intelligentsia, and patriots.

Communists killed them because they didn’t want smart  and conscious people to be alive, they needed only ones to obey .

Germans killed Ukrainians just because they didn’t like them…”dsc09579.jpg

And what about those mothers with sick body, but strong will? What about those wife’s and sister’s full-of-tears eyes? And what about those hungry poor children without parents or (what even worse) WITH parents became orphans. Like Ukraine became an orphan in the indifferent arms of this harsh and strict machine, which name was Stalin’s terror… dsc09564.jpg

No matter which way the Orange revolution has gone politically, I still believe that President Yushenko is a GREAT man. Those words he spoke is out of strong conviction and a deep soul full of grieving. Thanks for sharing this!!!
